In pictures: Snow hits parts of Scotland during weather warnings

Snow has been falling over parts of Scotland that are covered by a Met Office yellow weather warnings for wintry weather.

A warning for snow is in place until 15:00 for mainland areas – including Highlands, Aberdeenshire, Perth and Kinross and Fife and Orkney, external.

A separate warning for snow has been issued for Shetland until the end of Wednesday, external. The Met Office said there was the potential for travel disruption on some roads.

Aberdeenshire’s east coast, including around Aberdeen and Peterhead, has a yellow weather warning for heavy rain until midday, external.
