Louisville vs Notre Dame score today, UofL basketball game updates

Louisville basketball won vs SMU, C.L. Brown’s One Take from game

Khani Rooths showed why his presence is needed in Louisville’s frontcourt after the Cards beat the SMU Mustangs 88-74 at the KFC Yum! Center.

Louisville basketball has a chance today to start the home stretch of the 2025-26 regular season on the right foot.

Pat Kelsey’s No. 23 Cardinals (15-6, 5-4 ACC) host Notre Dame (11-11, 2-7) at the KFC Yum! Center. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.

UofL is coming off an 88-74 win over SMU last weekend, during which it overcame a 12-point deficit in the first half. After reestablishing the program’s “toughness” and “tenacity” in the wake of a 31-point loss at No. 4 Duke on Jan. 26, Kelsey has been hopeful these qualities will carry his players the rest of the way.

“I think the best teams are the most desperate,” the coach said. “That’s what we’re striving to be.”

Led by third-year coach Micah Shrewsberry, Notre Dame entered the week ranked 85th in the NET, making today’s game a Quad 3 opportunity for the Cards. The Fighting Irish have lost eight of their past 10 games and have been without their top player, junior guard Markus Burton, since early December.

Follow along with live updates from the Yum! Center below:

The Cards have pulled within two possessions thanks to runs of 5-0 and 4-0.

Khani Rooths, for the second game in a row, has provided a spark off the bench. The sophomore forward owns the highlight of the night so far: a steal leading to a breakaway dunk.

Another slow start for the Cards out of the game. They’ve missed 8 of their first 9 shots from the field while allowing the Fighting Irish to knock down 4 of their first 6.

J’Vonne Hadley, who started despite being a game-time decision due to a back injury, walked back toward the locker room with trainer Katie Creznic after being subbed out at the 17:14 mark.
