Mountain West Leaders Meet as Lobos Host Utah State Wednesday Night

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M – The New Mexico men’s basketball team begins a two-game homestand Wednesday night when it hosts Utah State at The Pit in a matchup of teams tied atop the Mountain West standings. Game time is 9:00 p.m. and the game will be televised on FS1 and air on Lobo Radio Network.

Tickets for Wednesday’s game are on sale now at GoLobos.com/tickets. Gates will open at 7:30 p.m. The game will also feature UNM’s Black History Month celebration with a special pregame performance of Lift Every Voice and Sing and a halftime step performance from D9.

The Lobos (18-4, 9-2) look to remain unbeaten at home this season and extend a 23-game home win streak, the fourth-longest active streak in the nation. UNM enters the week tied for first in the Mountain West with Utah State and San Diego State. Jake Hall leads all freshman nationally with 68 3-pointers and is coming off a career-high 27 points in Saturday’s win at San Jose State.     

Utah State (18-3, 9-2 MW) moved into the three-way tie for first place in the Mountain West after a home victory on Saturday over San Diego State. The Aggies are ranked No. 27 in the NET, making Wednesday’s contest the first Quad 1 home game for the Lobos in two seasons. Utah State is led by MJ Collins, the conference’s top scorer at 18.6 points per game.   

The Aggies lead the all-time series 34-15, but the Lobos are 7-4 against Utah State in The Pit. New Mexico swept the season series last year and have won the last two meetings in Albuquerque.

The Lobos will conclude the homestand on Saturday with a matchup against Boise State (13-9, 5-6 MW). Game time is 8 p.m. and the game will air on CBS Sports Network. Tickets are on sale now at GoLobos.com/tickets.
