First Super Bowl injury report for Seattle Seahawks

Update: Standout Seattle Seahawks rookie Nick Emmanwori suffered an ankle injury in practice Wednesday. Click here for details.

The Seattle Seahawks’ first official injury report of Super Bowl is a long list of players, but the good news is every single one of them practiced Wednesday.

The New England Patriots, on the other hand, had a much shorter list but had one player who did not participate in practice.

That one player is linebacker Robert Spillane, an eighth-year linebacker who started 13 games in the regular season and three postseason games for the Patriots. The 30-year-old Spillane has an ankle injury that kept him from playing four games during the season and was re-aggravated in New England’s AFC Championship win in Denver.

Spillane, who did not practice at all last week, said Wednesday to the media that he is confident he will play Sunday in the Super Bowl.

As for the Seahawks, they had eight players listed as limited in Wednesday’s practice, two of which were for rest reasons, and another six who were full participants despite dealing with injuries.

Among Seattle’s limited players were starting left tackle Charles Cross (foot) and his backup, Josh Jones (ankle/knee). Quarterback Sam Darnold continued to be listed as limited with an oblique injury, something he has played with throughout the playoffs.

One potential concern for Seattle is the inclusion of standout rookie safety Nick Emmanwori as a limited player with an ankle injury. Emmanwori previously missed nearly a month after injuring his ankle in Week 1 of the season.

The Patriots’ injury report was just five players long. Quarterback Drake Maye was listed as a full participant with a shoulder injury, an issue that became known after the AFC Championship.
