The groundbreaking new storyline will see George Pig revealed to have moderate hearing loss, and he will begin wearing a hearing aid in upcoming episodes on Milkshake from March 9.

Joining the show for the episodes is Gladiators star Jodie Ounsley, AKA Fury, who is profoundly deaf and has a cochlear implant.

She will voice the audiologist who helps George with his diagnosis.

The episode is called Hearing Test, and sees Peppa’s family learn that George has moderate hearing loss in one ear during a routine doctor’s visit.

He is fitted with a hearing aid to help him experience the world of sound in a new way.

Across these episodes, children will see George discover new noises, from splashing in muddy puddles to the ice-cream van’s melody.

He will experience a touching milestone as he says Peppa’s name for the very first time.

Developed with expert input from the National Deaf Children’s Society, the storyline aims to help families understand childhood hearing loss in an accessible, age-appropriate way, while celebrating difference and inclusion.

It comes after new research shows 98 per cent of parents of children with hearing loss believe that deaf representation in children’s TV has a positive impact on them, with 74 per cent of parents saying children’s TV helps explain disability.

Peppa Pig has proven to be a huge hit with children since it first aired in May 2004.

The show made headlines around the world in February 2025 after it was announced Mummy Pig was pregnant with her third child.

She welcomed daughter Evie Pig in May 2025.

She is recognised by her light-yellow bow, light-cyan onesie, and a heart-shaped birthmark on her cheek.
