Reeves Extends Ad Valorem Tax Submission Deadline

In response to recent storms, Governor Tate Reeves has officially extended the deadline for Mississippians to submit their ad valorem taxes. The new deadline for these affected counties is now set for March 3, 2026.

The extension applies to residents in 48 counties impacted by severe weather conditions. Governor Reeves has also indicated that fines for late submissions will be delayed during this period.

Storm-Related Damage Reports

In conjunction with the announcement, Governor Reeves reported four additional storm-related fatalities. These include one death in Lafayette County, one in Panola County, and two in Tippah County, which raises the statewide total to 14 fatalities.

Extent of Damage

The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) has disclosed the following preliminary damage assessments:

  • 223 homes damaged, destroyed, or affected.
  • 10 businesses affected.
  • 7 farms impacted.
  • 20 public roads with major damage.
  • 50 public roads with minor damage.
  • 12 roads completely destroyed.
  • Two bridges sustaining minor damage.

These figures are expected to rise as comprehensive damage assessments continue across the affected regions.
