Raptors’ RJ Barrett out vs. Bulls with knee injury management

The Toronto Raptors will be without a key player on the second night of a back-to-back.

RJ Barrett has been ruled out against the Chicago Bulls with right knee sprain injury management, the Raptors announced on Thursday.

The 25-year-old wing missed 15 games after coming down awkwardly on a breakaway dunk against the Brooklyn Nets on Nov. 23 and hasn’t played in back-to-back games since.

Barrett is averaging 18.6 points on 47.9/33.8/70.1 shooting splits to go along with 5.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists.

He also missed seven games after sustaining an ankle injury against the Boston Celtics on Jan. 9.

Jakob Poeltl will remain out for the Raptors with a lower-back strain and played only one seven-minute stint since Dec. 15. All three of the Raptors two-way players: Alijah Martin, AJ Lawson and Chucky Hepburn are unavailable.

Chris Paul is also not available after being acquired by the Raptors via trade on Wednesday, as he is not with the team.

The Raptors tip off against the Bulls after the trade deadline cutoff. Catch the action on Sportsnet ONE and Sportsnet+ at 7:30 p.m. ET / 4:30 p.m. PT.
