Local substitute teacher involved in child porn investigation

SAGINAW, Mich. (WNEM) — A substitute teacher has been charged in a child porn investigation.

Jesus Gutierrez-Vazquez was arraigned on six charges, including three counts of possession of child sexually abusive material and three counts of committing a crime while using a computer. He is held without bond, according to court records.

Six Saginaw County school districts sent a joint letter to families, staff and community members informing them of Gutierrez-Vazquez’s arrest. Those school districts include Saginaw Intermediate School District, Bridgeport-Spaudling Community School District, Carrollton Public Schools District, Swan Valley School District and Freeland Community School District.

In the letter, the districts said that Gutierrez-Vazquez was employed through a third-party staffing provider, Educational Staffing Solutions. Gutierrez-Vazquez has been blocked from the ESS substitute system amid the investigation.

“The safety and well-being of students and staff remain our highest priority. We understand that this information may raise questions or concerns,” the school districts said in the letter. They encouraged parents, guardians and staff to contact their superintendent’s office or the Saginaw County Sheriff’s Department if they have any questions, concerns or information to share.
