After a goal-filled month, Viktor Gyokeres has been voted by our supporters as our men’s Player of the Month for January.
Viktor finished on top of the poll with 48% of the votes, beating competition from Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli and Martin Zubimendi to scoop the award for the first time since his summer arrival.
Our Swedish striker moved into double figures by netting four times in his final six matches in January. His run began by tapping home against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg, in a game that saw him also assist Martin Zubimendi at Stamford Bridge. A week later, he bagged a fine goal in the San Siro to round off our 3-1 win against Inter Milan.
He then netted early on against Kairat Almaty after bursting through on goal and also registered another assist in that game, while he ended January with a poacher’s effort at Leeds United as he enjoys his best run of goals in a Gunners shirt.
Viktor is the sixth different recipient of our men’s Player of the Month awards this season, following in the footsteps of Riccardo Calafiori, Martinelli, Gabriel, Ebere Eze and Leandro Trossard.
