Canada’s Francis Jobin qualifies for Olympic snowboard big air final

Francis Jobin will have a chance to compete for a medal in his Olympic debut.
The Canadian snowboarder reached the big air final by finishing sixth in qualification on Thursday.
The top 12 qualified for Saturday’s final.
The 27-year-old Jobin, from Lac Beauport, Que., has a personal-best of 18th at the world championships in 2017.
Fellow Canadians Eli Bouchard (14th) and Cameron Spalding (21st) failed to qualify.
Canada’s Mark McMorris dropped out after suffering a head injury on Wednesday. He hopes to compete in slopestyle later in the Games.
Two-time reigning Winter X Games champ Hiroto Ogiwara of Japan placed first in qualifying.
