Rob Lantz to return as P.E.I.’s premier after winning PC leadership

‘I’m glad to be at the end of the process,’ premier-designate says in post-convention interview
Lantz spoke with CBC’s Wayne Thibodeau after the convention. He said he’s glad that the leadership campaign is over.
He’s already thinking about Monday, he said, and was impressed by the number of young Islanders who’ve taken part in the process.
On the question of whether the party is divided (because of the very narrow margin of victory), Lantz said the tight leadership race was a good thing to have happened.
Tomorrow, though, Lantz joked that he’s going to be watching the Super Bowl (and have some meetings).
“I’ve been gone for two months and I feel completely disconnected. This campaign consumed the last couple of months and now I need to reset my focus to governing again,” he said.
He also hasn’t ruled out an election this spring, but did say just now that “I don’t think Islanders want to go to the polls … I think we have a mandate to continue governing, so it’s not necessary, but it is an option.”
