February 6, 2026/Midnight

Erie, PA. — Noah Tegelaar made 34 saves, while McLean Agrette scored the game-winning goal as the Erie Otters ended a nine-game losing streak Friday night. The Otters hosted a talented Soo Greyhounds squad that entered sitting fourth in the Western Conference. The Greyhounds were led by NHL Central Scouting’s No. 4 Ranked North American skater, defenseman Chase Reid.

The Greyhounds opened the scoring late in the first. Reid’s shot from the blue line redirected by Christopher Brown with 2:35 in the period. The Otters answered back early in the second. Tristen Trevino’s shot deflected off goaltender Carter George, but Jake Murray rebounded it and tied the game. Later, Agrette found Andrew Kuzma, who set up Michael Dec in front of the net for the score with 5:13 remaining. Erie led Soo 2-1 entering the final frame.

Dec nearly extended the Otters’ lead on an early third period power play opportunity. The Greyhounds would find the equalizer late from Jeremy Martin with 3:39 remaining. Erie would head to overtime for the third-straight game. Soo’s Quinn McKenzie found Jordan Charron open for a huge breakaway opportunity but was denied by Tegelaar! This game would require a shootout.

Marco Mignosa scored for the Greyhounds in the third round of shootout. Erie’s Ulysses Lombardi answered with the game on the line to force sudden death. Soo’s Justin Cloutier could not capitalize in round five. Agrette beat George on the backhand and scored the game winner to give Erie its first win since Dec. 30.

“The last three games… there’s some real positives to build off, which is fantastic.” says head coach Kris Mallette.

The Otters hosted rival London Knights Saturday night in front of a large crowd of 5,460. Dec scored Erie’s lone goal in the 6-1 loss. A three-in-three awaits Erie this week. The Otters host Guelph on Thursday, Feb. 5 before traveling to Michigan to face the Saginaw Spirit on Friday, Feb. 6, and Flint Firebirds on Saturday, Feb. 7.
