Chelsea scouts identify £4m deal for rapid star but Manchester United are also interested

Chelsea might not have been particularly active in the January window, but you can expect that to change in the summer, and already, Liam Rosenior’s scouts are watching potential signings.

Chelsea wanted a defender and a midfielder in the summer, and it saw them linked with the likes of Jeremy Jacquet, Marcos Senesi, Douglas Luiz, Tylel Tati, Curtis Jones, and plenty more possible signings.

But Chelsea ended up only signing teenage talent Yisa Alao from Sheffield Wednesday for a £1m fee, while Mamadou Sarr was recalled from Toulouse, reuniting with Liam Rosenior, to bolster the defence.

Admit it, Chelsea were wrong to sell Renato Veiga 🤔

Especially, with Chelsea trying to sign Jacquet!

That lack of activity will change in the summer, and already, just a week after the January window shut, Chelsea talent spotters have been out in Norway. They have identified another teenage defender.

Chelsea scouts left impressed by Tromso’s Abubacarr Sedi Kinteh

According to a report from The Mail overnight, Chelsea scouts have watched Tromso defender Abubacarr Sedi Kinteh play. The Gambia international, 19, has played 25 times at senior level for the Norwegian side.

It is believed that Tromso want a £4m fee for the defender, but Chelsea are not alone in pursuit of the young star. Indeed, Swiss sides Basel and Young Boys are both interested in signing Kinteh in the summer.

Certainly, the Swiss duo will be able to offer Kinteh first-team game time immediately, while a move to Chelsea will likely see him go on loan, possibly to Strasbourg. But Man United are also looking at Kinteh.

Tromso wonderkid Kinteh is as fast as Tottenham’s van de Ven

It is widely known that Tottenham and Netherlands defender Micky van de Ven is the quickest player in the Premier League, boasting speeds that go as high as 37 kilometres an hour. Kinteh is just as quick.

We had the whole of January to sign Jeremy Jacquet and come up short 😡

Who is to blame for this?!

While in Norway, Kinteh has been clocked going just as fast as van de Ven. An attribute that is clearly considered high, especially in defence, with Rosenior looking to press high and play with a high line.

As interest ramps up in Kinteh, it is easy to imagine Tromso looking to increase the price tag currently on Kinteh’s head, with clubs like Chelsea and Man United interested. A sell-on clause is a likely scenario, too.
