A man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries following a horror collision with a car on a main Derby road, which remained closed for more than four hours while police work was carried out.
Shocking dashcam footage from a stationary car has been seen by Derbyshire Live, which shows the victim being thrown into the air as a car struck him as he crossed Osmaston Park Road at the traffic lights, and the dog he was walking running off. We have chosen not to publish the footage.
Derbyshire police say they were called to the scene at around noon today (Tuesday, February 10).
The force’s statement said: “A man aged in his 50s was in collision with a grey Toyota Yaris and sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
“The road was closed for some time this afternoon whilst emergency services dealt with the incident and was reopened at about 4.30pm.
“A 34-year-old man, who was the driver of the vehicle, has been arrested in connection with the incident and inquiries are ongoing.”
