T20 World Cup 2026 points table: Updated team rankings and net run rate after South Africa, Australia, West Indies win
South Africa and Afghanistan played a game for the ages, Australia began their campaign with a win, and the West Indies defeated England at the T20 World Cup 2026 on Tuesday, February 11. Here is how the points tables look after a big day of action.
T20 World Cup 2026: Day five recap
South Africa vs Afghanistan
In what can safely be called the match of the World Cup so far (and arguably the greatest in the format’s history), Quinton de Kock (59 off 41) and Ryan Rickelton (61 off 28) took South Africa to 126-1 in the 13th over before Afghanistan, led by Rashid Khan (4-0-28-2), restricted them to 187-6. In a topsy-turvy chase that changed course throughout, last man Fazalhaq Farooqi was run out to tie the match.
South Africa needed 18 to win the match in the Super Over: Tristan Stubbs hit a six off the last ball to pull off another tie. Set to chase 24 off four balls, Rahmanullah Gurbaz hit three sixes before missing out on the next.
Australia vs Ireland
A hamstring injury to Mitchell Marsh forced Travis Head to lead an already injury-hit Australia: they have also flown in Steve Smith as cover. Unperturbed by that, Australia posted 182-6 before Nathan Ellis (3.5-1-12-4) and Adam Zampa (4-0-23-4) shot out Ireland for 115.

West Indies vs England
The West Indies rode on Sherfane Rutherford’s 42-ball 76 not out to post 196-6 at the Wankhede Stadium, a venue known for high scoring, even as Adil Rashid returned 4-0-16-2. England were on track at 74-1 in the seventh over, but the West Indies spinners – Akeal Hosein (4-0-32-1), Roston Chase (4-0-29-2), Gudakesh Motie (4-0-33-3) – bowled magnificently in the middle overs to both curb the run flow and take wickets. In the end, England were bowled out for 166.
T20 World Cup 2026: Updated points table after day five
Australia began their campaign by soaring to the top of the points table in Group B. England remained at third place in Group C, below Scotland. And unless they lose to Canada or the UAE, New Zealand and South Africa have confirmed their Super Eights berths from Group D.
