At today’s PlayStation State of Play, Koei Tecmo announced the long-awaited return of a fan-favorite franchise—and it’s something that fans were just recently hoping would come to fruition. Dead or Alive 7 doesn’t actually have a name yet, and there’s always a chance it’ll be subtitled, instead. But forgive the internet, myself included, for calling this DOA7 until told otherwise.
Additionally, Dead or Alive 6, which wasn’t exactly hotly received back in 2019, is getting an updated edition. Given how many times that happened for its more beloved predecessor, and the fact that nearly seven years have passed without a new DOA6 on the market, it’s an interesting move. Perhaps one which is designed to hold us over for a while.

We don’t know when DOA7 is coming. But given how quick the trailer was, it’s uh, probably safe to say the game is still years away. We saw a certain familiar face, and then we saw, err. Breasts. Because of course we did. It’s Dead or Alive, to be fair. That’s sort of par for the course. In fact, insisting to people that the gameplay is good is always a bit of a losing battle. Koei does this to themselves.
Dead or Alive 6: Last Round is coming later this year. Dead or Alive 7 is coming to PS5. That’s pretty much all we know about the latter, but it’s enough to make me happy.
