Salem police search for suspect in attempted murder case

SALEM Ore. (KPTV) – Salem police are asking for the public’s help to find a 62-year-old man accused of attempting to kill a woman during an attack late Tuesday night.

Police said Daniel Ray Myers of Salem is wanted in connection with an attempted murder investigation stemming from an incident reported around 9 p.m. on Feb. 10.

According to investigators, Myers and the victim were together in his car making online food delivery orders when he drove her to a secluded area in West Salem. The victim told police Myers tried to sexually assault her and stabbed her multiple times when she resisted. Police said Myers allegedly held the victim in his car while she tried to escape.

The victim was eventually able to convince Myers to let her go at a Walgreens in Keizer to get first aid supplies, police said. Store employees then called the police.

Officers found the victim at the store and took her to Salem Hospital for treatment. Police said Myers left the scene before officers arrived, and his whereabouts are currently unknown.

Police said Myers is wanted on charges of attempted second-degree murder and other felony crimes. Investigators believe he may have access to guns and warned people not to approach him.

Myers is believed to be driving a silver Honda Civic with Oregon license plate 241 NGP.
