Pop wannabe Cruz Beckham’s latest bid for pop stardom was inspired by a massive 90s band and it’s not the Spice Girls. David and Victoria’s youngest son surprise dropped new song For Your Love today (Fri) and it’s an indie pop anthem that owes a huge debt to Oasis.
The Beckham family went to see the Gallagher brothers reunite on stage last summer and Cruz was clearly taking note of how to construct a feel good stadium tune judging by the release. Cruz said “I love this song. It’s been so fun to play live over the last couple of months. For me, it’s all about love and being fearless in that love, but I hope everyone can interpret it in their own way and find their own meaning to it.”
Cruz channels his inner Liam Gallagher on the track as he sings: “Lose all direction in the midst of limitation, sacrifice my reputation for your love.” The song will provide a spot of welcome good news for the Beckham brand following the fall-out with their eldest son Brooklyn and his wife Nicola Peltz.

Cruz has adopted a more mature, indie-pop sound since working with producers Justin Raisen and Lewis Pesacov (Charli XCX) and is being taken seriously by the music industry after signing with C3 management (The Strokes).
For Your Love follows last year’s debut Optics and the follow up Lick The Toad.
Cruz and his band The Breakers kick off their debut headline tour in a couple weeks, with multiple sold out shows including three nights in London at The Courtyard Theatre.
He said of the tour: “I’ve always been inspired by bands who do it the right way, so I wanna get out there and play loads of small gigs. I cannot wait to meet the fans and for them to hear the tracks, I can’t believe people have actually spent their hard earned money to come and see me and my band, so we’re gonna put on a show!
“I’m so buzzing to have our own banner for The Breakers, we’ve only been a support band so far so this time we get our own banner!”
Recently Robbie Williams begged Noel Gallagher not to sue him over similarities between his song Spies and the Oasis catalogue – Cruz may have to get down on his knees too.
For Your Love is without doubt a love letter to his fave bits of Oasis, particularly The Masterplan and Don’t Look Back In Anger during the euphoric middle eight part.
Those tunes were pastiches of The Beatles themselves, and you can hear a bit of John Lennon attitude in Cruz’s impressive voice. He also has nice fluid guitar rhythm, making For Your Love memorable and a decent stepping stone towards bigger things.
No need for him to pivot to cookery or photography, Cruz is one Beckham baby with actual talent.
