Buffalo Bills announce 2026 assistant coaching staff additions

Promotions to returning coaching staff

Run Game Coordinator/Tight Ends | Rob Boras

Boras joined the Bills in 2017 as the tight end coach. He oversaw successful seasons out of multiple tight ends – tight end Dawson Knox registered a franchise record for receiving touchdowns by a tight end with nine in 2021, tight end Dalton Kincaid recorded the most catches all-time by a Bills tight end in 2023 with 73 and rookie tight end Jackson Hawes became one of the most important blockers in 2025.

In Boras’ 10th season on Buffalo’s staff, he adds to his title. With his promotion, Boras is now Buffalo’s run game coordinator and tight ends coach.

Danna joined Buffalo’s staff in 2023 as the safeties coach. In his first season, he helped coach the defense to record 17 interceptions and 27 takeaways. Both were the fourth-most in the NFL. In 2024, seven players had at least two interceptions, which tied for most in the NFL and the second-most in Bills history (1962). In 2025, the Bills finished as the best pass defense allowing just 156.9 passing yards per game. Cornerbacks Christian Benford (40.7 completion percentage allowed) and Tre’Davious White (32.1 completion percentage allowed) recorded the lowest completion percentages from Weeks 6-18.

As Danna enters his fourth season with the Bills, he is promoted to the secondary coach.

Assistant Wide Receivers | D.J. Mangas

Mangas joined the Bills staff in 2023 as an offensive assistant. He was promoted to offensive quality control coach for the 2024 season and entered 2025 as the offensive quality control/assistant wide receivers coach. Mangas helped coach an offense that averaged 28.3 points per game (fourth), 376.3 total yards per game (fourth) and scored touchdowns in the red zone 66.2 percent of the time (third) in 2025.

Ahead of the 2026 season, Mangas is focusing solely on being the assistant wide receivers coach.

Senior Defensive Assistant | Jason Rebrovich

Rebrovich joined Buffalo’s staff in 2025 as the assistant defensive line coach. He also coached for the Bills from 2013-16 and held several different positions (defensive line, outside linebackers, assistant defensive line and defensive quality control coach). In 2025, he helped coach a defensive line that racked up 36 sacks and saw defensive end Joey Bosa lead the NFL with five forced fumbles.

Rebrovich gets a promotion under Brady as he moves from assistant defensive line coach to senior defensive assistant.

Assistant Quarterbacks | Kyle Shurmur

Shurmur joined the Bills staff in 2022 as a defensive quality control coach and moved to offensive quality control in 2023. Since 2022, he helped coach an offense that averaged 28.5 points per game (second) and 376.6 total yards per game (second). Quarterback Josh Allen also recorded 165 offensive touchdowns over that span, which lead the NFL.

Ahead of the 2026 season, Shurmur is promoted to the assistant quarterbacks coach.

Defensive Assistant | Alvin Vaughn

Vaughn joined Buffalo’s staff in 2023 as the fellowship coach. He helped coach the defensive side of the football and oversaw a defense that recorded 17 interceptions and 27 takeaways (both fourth best) in 2023. In 2024, he coached a defense that had seven players record at least two interceptions, which tied for the most in the NFL. In 2025, the Bills finished as the best pass defense allowing just 156.9 passing yards per game.

Vaughn gets a promotion under Brady as he moves from fellowship coach to defensive assistant.
