Trick Williams Says He ‘Cracked a Cheat Code in Life’ After SmackDown Call-Up

Trick Williams’ elevation to the main roster has become more than a career milestone — it has reshaped his personal life. The former NXT Champion, officially moved up to SmackDown on January 2, 2026 (ET), says sharing the journey with his fiancée has made his breakthrough feel like a nonstop honeymoon.

From training partners to life partners

Williams and Lash Legend’s relationship traces back to when both joined developmental around 2021–2022 and spent time in the Performance Center together. What began as a friendship evolved into a private romance; backstage they developed a reputation for pushing each other to improve. Their relationship surfaced briefly on NXT television in 2024, and they went public with an engagement over Thanksgiving with family around on November 28, 2025 (ET). The pair are planning a wedding and have started building a home together.

“I cracked a cheat code in life”

In a recent interview, Williams reflected on the unusual alignment of personal and professional triumphs. “Man, I feel like, you know, I cracked a cheat code in life, you know, where me and my fiancée travel the world every single week. And they pay for it. You know what I mean? Like we on honeymoon every single week, ” he said, describing the surreal mix of travel, television and relationship milestones. He added that being with someone who truly understands the wrestling grind—both on and off camera—has amplified the joy of the main roster call-up.

Why an extra year in development paid off

Williams also explained why he remained in developmental longer than some fans expected. He framed the extra season as a period of growth that transformed his in-ring confidence and character work. “Man, God’s timing, man. Everything happens when it’s supposed to, and I’m grateful it did, ” he said, noting that extended reps and high-pressure moments, including a championship run outside the company, gave him the polish he needed before stepping onto the bigger stage. That stretch, he believes, elevated his charisma and in-ring awareness.

Call-up moments and main roster ambitions

Williams’ arrival on SmackDown in early January made an immediate statement: he interrupted a top name and made his intent clear. He’s already squared off with established stars and signaled he has his eyes on the World Championship scene. He’s also described the call-up process as unexpectedly informal — a text from an unrecognized number followed by an internal notification — and laughed about the surreal feeling of wondering if the alert was real before being thrust into the spotlight.

Personal wins matter more than belts

For Williams, the greatest victory isn’t championship gold or TV time but building a stable life that fits the demands of wrestling. Between engagement plans, a new house and weekly travel, he emphasizes that having a partner who understands the lifestyle makes the climb worthwhile. As he settles into the main roster rotation, Williams looks to blend ambition with balance: chase top titles while maintaining the personal foundation that, in his view, already makes him a winner.

With renewed confidence and a support system at his side, Trick Williams appears poised to turn the momentum he built in developmental into a sustained run among the promotion’s top players.
