Valentine’s Day 2026 specials include food deals, heart-shaped dishes

Multiple Valentine’s Day deals announced

Valentine’s Day deals have been announced by Dairy Queen, Dunkin, Chick-fil-A and Waffle House for 2026.

Fox – 5 Atlanta

The price tag for celebrating Valentine’s Day is expected to be more costly than a year ago. So if you can save a few bucks, that could provide some love for your budget.

This year, Valentine’s Day spending in the United States is expected to reach a record $29.1 billion, the National Retail Federation estimates, surpassing the $27.5 billion spent a year ago, when inflation was an even bigger concern. Shoppers said they would spend an average of nearly $200, up from nearly $189 last year, says the NRF survey of 7,791 adults conducted by Prosper Insights & Analytics.

High prices remain on consumers’ minds as they contemplate their Valentine’s Day plans. If you are concerned about the costs of candy or dining out – two of the top four Valentine’s Day purchases with 56% planning candy purchases and 39% dining out, according to the NRF survey – you aren’t alone.

Possible explanations for more Valentine’s Day spending: Over the past year, candy prices have risen 10%, while food away from home rose 4.1%, according to the latest Consumer Price Index report from the Department of Labor.

Four out of 10 consumers said Valentine’s Day activities are not affordable this year, according to a WalletHub 2026 Valentine’s Day Spending Survey. Another survey, conducted by financial site LendingTree, found nearly half of people (47%) in relationships said higher prices made gifts harder to afford this year. “Most people want to give generously on Valentine’s Day, but tough times often require sacrifice,” said Matt Schulz, a chief consumer finance analyst at LendingTree. “For many people, that means dialing back on holiday spending.”

To match the mood, the iconic Sweethearts conversation hearts candy has added special “Love in This Economy” sayings to boxes of its heart-shaped candies. Along with the traditional sayings such as “CUTIE PIE,” there will also be ones saying “SPLIT RENT” and “SHARE LOGN.”

Worried about the outlay for your Valentine’s Day celebrations? Here are some deals and specials to help you save some dough.
