More than 22,000 affected single-serve products were distributed to 40 states, including Illinois.
They include both peanut butter packets and small cups containing both peanut butter and jelly.
The products were produced by Ventura Foods and sold to distributors, mostly under private label brands.
The problem is pieces of blue plastic were found in a filter at the facility where they are made.
The FDA’s new designation for the recall is Class 2. Meaning consuming the product could cause temporary illness, but not likely anything serious or life-threatening.
The recall was initiated in April 2025.
