WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray details his confusion about Drew McIntyre

Drew McIntyre got the award he deserved at the start of the 2026 season.
The Scottish veteran was not satisfied with the results obtained last year and had repeatedly complained to the WWE management, which was too involved in John Cena’s farewell tour to give Drew the space he wanted.
He was convinced that he would have a chance to compete for the world title already last season, considering that 2024 had been one of the brightest years of his career also thanks to the spectacular feud with CM Punk (one of the most popular in WWE Universe).
Despite the frustration he accumulated, McIntyre continued to do his job with the utmost professionalism and pushed his body over the limit and earned everyone’s respect. It is no coincidence that Triple H decided to award him at the beginning of 2026, when Drew defeated ‘The American Nightmare’ Cody Rhodes in Berlin to win the world title to everyone’s amazement.
Bully Ray on Drew McIntyre
‘The Scottish Warrior’ continued his feud with Cody at the Royal Rumble, eliminating him during the royal brawl staged in Saudi Arabia for the first time in the company’s history. According to most insiders, they are set to face each other at WrestleMania 42 during the spring.
During the latest edition of ‘Busted Open Radio’, WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray expressed his perplexity about the way WWE management is handling McIntyre at this stage: “This didn’t make sense. I don’t know why you’re burying the other guy who’s your champion and the other brand. Now maybe, hopefully, they’ll come full circle and give us a reason. But in all my time, all I can say right now is to quote the great Jeff Spicoli, I don’t know.”
Ray continued: “I’m sorry to repeat myself a little bit. I don’t know why you go out of your way to bury Drew, the championship, and SmackDown. I don’t know why you put a promo in the guy’s mouth that I liked, meanwhile, he just eliminated the biggest babyface in the company out of the Royal Rumble when he wasn’t even in the match. It’s like a toxic girlfriend.”
