UFC Houston weigh-in results: Phil Rowe has scale scare, avoids third weight miss

Update: An older version of this story reported Phil Rowe had officially missed weight. However, he was given a second attempt and successfully made weight for his fight at UFC Houston.

Phil Rowe was almost tripped up by the scale again.

The veteran welterweight came in a pound over the limit (including the one-pound allowance for non-title fights) on his first attempt at the official weigh-ins for his bout with Jean-Paul Lebosnoyani, which takes place Saturday at UFC Houston. Rowe was the last fighter to weigh in and initially registered at 172 pounds, while Lebosnoyani came in at 170.5.

However, Rowe was allowed a second attempt and on his next try he successfully hit the mark at 170.5 pounds.

Rowe had missed weight for two previous UFC bouts. He came in 2.5 pounds over the limit against Niko Price and Orion Cosce, both of whom lost to Rowe via knockout. It should be noted Rowe accepted this booking on a month’s notice, following Lebosnoyani’s original opponent Austin Vanderford withdrawing for undisclosed reasons.

Headliners Sean Strickland and Anthony Hernandez were on point for a pivotal middleweight fight. Strickland weighed in at 185 pounds, while Hernandez used the one-pound allowance to come in at 186.
