Gordon Ramsay’s golden rule for daughter Holly’s wedding that she overrode

Holly Ramsay and Adam Peaty’s wedding on 27 December 2025 had the country in a chokehold, with crowds gathered around Bath Abbey trying to catch a glimpse of the bride and groom, as well as the many A-list guests at the ceremony, including the likes of David and Victoria Beckham.
However, behind the scenes, there was some confusion and disagreement, most notably the conflict between Gordon Ramsay’s family and Adam Peaty’s mother, Caroline, that resulted in her being uninvited from the wedding.
In Gordon’s new six-part Netflix documentary, Being Gordon Ramsay, another source of conflict was revealed, as it appears that there was something that the celebrity chef tried to veto for his daughter’s nuptials.
When Holly and Adam sat down to discuss plans for the wedding with the 59-year-old, the topic of dresses came up, and it seemed to evoke some surprise from him.

The model revealed that she and her mother, Tana Ramsay, had already tried on wedding dresses, and told her father: “You need three,” to which he responded: “No, you can’t have three dresses.”
After the bride doubled down, Gordon’s shock only skyrocketed, as he exclaimed: “Jesus Christ, I’m sweating here. No, three dresses, my [expletive]. Absolute [expletive].”
After it was explained that it’s becoming more popular for brides to have a separate dress for the ceremony, and another for afterwards, the chef made sure that the bridesmaids didn’t need multiple dresses too, and seemed relieved at that revelation.
Holly Ramsay’s wedding dresses
When the 26-year-old entered Bath Abbey, she wore a long white cloak to keep her highly anticipated bridal look under wraps – literally.
Eventually, she made the big reveal, showing off her dramatic Elie Saab lace dress, which had some royal inspiration, as it emulated the Princess of Wales’ iconic 2011 bridal look. The dress featured lace long sleeves, a Queen Anne neckline and a gorgeously impressive train, all rounded off with a veil that was just as long and dramatic.
Laura Sutcliffe, HELLO!‘s Fashion and Beauty News Editor, gave her expert take on the dress, telling us: “It’s easy to see why Holly was inspired by one of the most famous wedding dresses of all time, The Princess of Wales’s (or the Duchess of Cambridge as she was then known).
“Although Prince William’s wife wore a custom Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen gown in 2011, the timeless cut and fresh finish will live on for centuries to come,” she continued.
The fashion expert added that “it’s an incredible example of a gown that combines both historical tradition and modern fashion in one show-stopping ensemble”.
She concluded: “Like Holly’s Elie Saab gown, Kate’s also featured a high neck, long lace sleeves, and a structured bodice. Both dresses feature a certain 1950s cinematic glamour that has always stood the test of time and never fails to look stylish.”
Holly also rewore her mother Tana’s own wedding dress from her 1996 ceremony, as well as a sequinned mini dress also from Elie Saab and a silky pre-wedding party dress designed by family friend, Victoria Beckham.
