Who will win Texas A&M vs Oklahoma basketball game? 3 things to know and a prediction
COLLEGE STATION — After snapping a four-game skid, Texas A&M basketball hits the road for a rematch. The Aggies (18-8, 8-5 SEC) took down Ole Miss Wednesday and now turn their attention to Oklahoma, which they’ve already beaten.
Just over two weeks ago, A&M was in first place in the conference; now they’re tied for third and three games behind first-place Florida. The win was a Quad 3 victory, but more importantly, A&M avoided an ugly loss against a conference cellar dweller.

With just five games left in the regular season, the Aggies’ NCAA Tournament chance remains shaky, recently drawing a 10-seed in Joe Lunardi’s bracketology. They must again avoid a résumé-hurting loss against the struggling Sooners. Oklahoma (13-13, 3-10) just lost to Tennessee and is 2-3 in its last five games.

Oklahoma consistently middle of the pack
In almost every metric, the Sooners have been about average this season. As of Friday, Oklahoma is ninth in the SEC in offense (82.8) and field goal percentage (46.8%). It’s 11th in defense (78.2) and free-throw percentage (73.8%). The Sooners are also 15th in opponent field goal percentage (45.2%) and 14th in rebounds (35.8).
Oklahoma’s one true outlier is that it shoots well from beyond the arc. The Sooners come into Saturday’s matchup fourth in the conference, making 36.7% of their 712 attempts.

Guard duo continues to lead Sooners
The last time these teams met, Oklahoma guard Nijel Pack troubled A&M. Pack had a game-high 24 points on 8-for-20 shooting from the field. Fellow guard Xzayvier Brown leads the Sooners in scoring with 16.1 points per game. Pack, a 5-foot-10 senior, is right behind him, averaging 16.0 points. Both average more than three rebounds and three assists, and each continues to shoot better than 88% from the free-throw line.
In their last meeting with A&M, Brown was held in check, scoring just seven points, his second-lowest total since conference play began. He shot 3-for-9 from the field and 0-for-4 from 3-point range.

A&M looking for season sweep
Last season the Aggies swept the Sooners. That was the first time the former Big 12 and Southwest Conference foes had met on the basketball court since an NCAA Tournament game in 2016, and the first time they met in a regular-season game since 2014. Saturday offers the Aggies a chance for four straight wins in the series. A&M took down Oklahoma in the third SEC game of the season, 83-76, in College Station.
Forward Rashaun Agee recorded his seventh double-double of the season, scoring 16 points and grabbing 12 rebounds against OU. Despite losing the rebound battle (40-28), the Aggies won the turnover battle 17-8 and recorded eight steals to the Sooners’ four.
