Kyle Larson’s potentially good points day at Atlanta ended just short of the Stage 2 finish line.

Larson, running inside the top 5, crashed following a bad block of Shane van Gisbergen off of the final corner coming to the Stage 2 checkered flag on Lap 160 in the Autotrader 400 NASCAR Cup Series race on Feb. 22 at EchoPark Speedway.

Larson slid up after making contact with SVG, smacking the outside wall.

“It’s all my fault, obviously,” Larson said to FOX after being released from the infield car center, noting he wasn’t aware of SVG’s run below him.

Instead of picking up stage points and continuing to contend for the win, the No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports driver will likely finish outside the top 30 at Atlanta.

Larson did pick up eight stage points in Stage 1 by finishing third, but it’ll be a small consolation after leading 47 laps.

Bubba Wallace claimed the Stage 2 win ahead of William Byron.
