The Los Angeles Lakers’ injury report, and the injury status for LeBron James and Luka Doncic, are all good news for the Sunday Celtics game.
At multiple points this season, the Los Angeles Lakers have dealt with concerning injuries to at least one of their star trio of LeBron James, Luka Doncic, and Austin Reaves, as each has missed double-digit games so far this season.
Despite recent injuries to the latter two, health has not been an issue for the Lakers coming off the 2026 All-Star Break. Los Angeles had a clean injury report for their first game back against the Clippers, and that once again remains the case in their upcoming game versus the Boston Celtics.
Ahead of the Lakers’ Sunday night clash against the Celtics, they have zero players listed on the injury report for the second game in a row.
Lakers Get Clean Injury Report News For Celtics Game
To say injuries have been an issue for the Lakers this season is a slight understatement. James missed the first month of the season, dealing with sciatica, while Doncic has been in and out of the lineup through the first two-thirds of the year, most recently dealing with a minor hamstring injury.
Rob Pelinka on Luka Doncic’s left hamstring strain: “In terms of this injury, the good news is it doesn’t appear to be anything serious. It was a mild hamstring strain and he is truly day-to-day.”
Reaves also missed a massive stretch, out for 19 games with a calf strain, but since returning, hasn’t missed a beat for Los Angeles.
Having the two younger stars healthy in Doncic and Reaves is a good sign for the Lakers both now and going forward, but at the same time, amid his uncertain future with the franchise, James is the one whom head coach JJ Redick and the medical staff have kept a closer eye on.
He is in his record-breaking 23rd NBA season, and at age 41 and the oldest player in the league, Redick most recently praised the NBA’s all-time leading scorer for his ability to play through pain.
“He fought through a lot today. I mean, the knee soreness, he probably doesn’t want me to share, but he was dealing with a migraine as well pregame,” Redick said after the Lakers’ previous win against the Clippers. “Again, he rings the bell over and over. It’s what he does.”
As for Doncic, who missed a stretch before the All-Star break, after the team’s last game, the Slovenian gave an update on his hamstring and subsequent conditioning after sitting for more than a week.
“It wasn’t bad,” he told reporters postgame. “Obviously a little tired after the game, but I felt good.”
Lakers’ center Deandre Ayton was also dealing with a knee injury last week, but after the All-Star break, he was taken off the team’s injury report.
Now, ahead of Los Angeles hosting their cross-country rival Celtics, they will have a clean injury sheet in what will be only the 12th game with James, Doncic, and Reaves all healthy.
Lakers Announce Pat Riley Statue Ahead Of Celtics Game
While the injury news is a good sign for the Lakers on the court, the team also announced something else for their game against Boston.
According to a release made by the team, Los Angeles is dedicating a statue outside the Crypto.com Arena for former head coach and current president of the Miami Heat, Pat Riley.
Info on today’s Pat Riley ceremony
“Today, the Los Angeles Lakers will unveil a new statue honoring Showtime-era head coach Pat Riley at the Crypto.com Arena. Riley spent nearly six decades in the NBA as a player, broadcaster, assistant coach, head coach, and executive.”
Riley led the Lakers from 1981 to 1990, winning five NBA championships and at least 50 games in each season alongside Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, James Worthy, and others in one of the most popular and successful teams in league history.
He will be the first coach presented with a statue in the Lakers’ Star Plaza, and only the second given the honor that wasn’t just a player, as legendary broadcaster Chick Hearn has already been memorialized.
While not related to Riley’s statue, another issue that will become a growing topic of conversation is how the Lakers look under new owner Mark Walter going forward. The franchise has already made internal changes and is set to raise ticket prices for the 2026-27 NBA season, a decision that has already been met with criticism.
The Lakers tip off against the Celtics on Sunday, February 22nd at 3:30 pm PST at Crypto.com Arena.
