Heavy snow & strong winds expected to impact Maine on Monday

A powerful ocean storm is set to impact Maine on Monday.
This storm will bring with it a moderate to heavy snowfall and strong winds, especially in the southern half of the state.

The snow will start 4-8 AM on Monday in Southern Maine.
It likely won’t start snowing in the foothills and mountains until late morning.

The heavy snow and strongest winds will be late morning through the evening hours.

This will all wrap up Monday night from 9 PM to Midnight.

The highest totals will be found closer to the coast.
More than a half a foot of snow is expected.
Parts of southern York County may see as much of a foot with locally higher amounts.
The totals will drop off some through the Lewiston and Augusta area.
The lowest totals will be found across the foothills and mountains.
Winds will be strong with gusts 40-50 mph along the coast and 25-40 mph inland.

This will be enough to cause scattered power outages along with blowing and drifting snow.
If at all possible, it’s best to avoid driving on Monday.
A coastal flood warning is in place along the York County coastline from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM Monday.

The combination of large waves, as high as 10-15 feet and storm surge will bring the chance for minor to moderate coastal flooding.
