Blizzard blankets Northeast with some snow totals reaching 3 feet

A furious winter storm blanketed the Northeast on Monday, dumping epic amounts of snow, forcing thousands of flight cancellations, closing roads, crippling public transit and bringing normal life to a grinding halt in a region home to more than 40 million people.
