As those of us on the east coast take shelter from this storm, the perfect shelter-in-place movie is coming to digital platforms tomorrow: Shelter, the latest action movie starring action movie legend Jason Statham.
Directed by Ric Roman Waugh, with a screenplay written by Ward Parry, Shelter stars Statham as a former hit man named Mason, who must betray his former employer in order to save the young girl (played by Bodhi Rae Breathnach, who was recently seen in Hamnet) who supplies for him. We love to see Statham go dad mode at the same time he’s going badass mode!
Also starring Bill Nighy, Naomi Ackie, and Daniel Mays, Shelter will no doubt deliver on the stunts, punches, and bullets that Jason Statham fans have come to expect. After a strong showing in the box office, especially overseas, it seems likely that Shelter‘s at-home release will do well, too. Where to watch the Jason Statham Shelter movie on streaming:
Beginning on Tuesday, February 24 at 12 a.m. Eastern Time (which is also 9 p.m. Pacific Time on Monday, February 23) you will be able to buy a digital copy of Shelter on platforms like Amazon Prime, Fandango At Home, Apple TV, and more. The price may vary depending on which platform you use to buy the film, but on Amazon, the film cost $24.99 to pre-order a digital copy. Shelter will not yet be available to rent online.
When will the Jason Statham Shelter movie be streaming free?
It may be long time before you see Shelter available to watch on any of the subscription-based streaming services. Shelter is a small, independent film that was distributed by Black Bear in the U.S., and right now, Black Bear does not have any streaming output deals with any of the subscription-based streamers.
Christy, another movie distributed in the U.S. by Black Bear, is not available on any of the streamers. (That said, it’s only been four months since the movie’s release in theaters, so that may change.)
It’s very possible Shelter may come to one of the streamers someday. But if you want to watch the movie right away, your best bet is to buy the movie on digital, starting tomorrow.
