Celtics’ Baylor Scheierman Starts, Records Double-Double In Win Over Suns

Boston Celtics wing Baylor Scheierman recorded a double-double in Tuesday’s night’s road win over the Phoenix Suns.
Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla put Scheierman in the starting lineup, and the former Creighton sharpshooter rewarded that faith by snagging 11 boards and adding 11 points on 5-of-10 shooting from the floor.
Scheierman has a knack for impacting the offensive glass by tracking down rebounds from the corner of the court. He out-hustles his defender, who often doesn’t react quickly enough to box out Scheierman on these long rebound opportunities.
Scheierman has also improved immensely as a defender over the course of the past few months. His development during his second season has been one of the most surprising aspects of the Celtics’ campaign, which has been full of surprises.
Scheierman’s corner triple in the fourth quarter with about five minutes remaining forced a timeout from Suns head coach Jordan Ott, who threw in the towel and put in his garbage time guys, effectively ending the game.
The Celts, now 38-17, will head to Denver next for the difficult second leg of a back-to-back.
