When is ‘Hamnet’ streaming on Peacock?

Focus Features’ $87M global grossing 8x Oscar nominated period pic Hamnet will start streaming on March 6 on Peacock, nine days before the Academy Awards ceremony. Note the date is also after final Oscar nom ballots are due, which is Thursday, March 5. Also that’s a 99-day exclusive theatrical window from the time movie bowed in cinemas on Nov. 26.
The Chloé Zhao directed feature take of the Maggie O’Farrell novel tells the untold story behind Shakespeare’s Hamlet. Paul Mescal plays Shakespeare.
Hamnet won two Golden Globe Awards for Best Motion Picture Drama and Best Actress Drama, as well as two BAFTA Awards for Outstanding British Film and Best Leading Actress, Jesse Buckley. The pic’s eight Oscar noms include Best Picture, Best Director, Actress in a Leading Role, Adapted Screenplay, Costume Design, Achievement in Casting, Original Score and Production Design.
The big boost for the movie since landing its Oscsar noms on Jan. 22 has been at the global box office, which surged from $28.5M to its current $87M, +205%. Last weekend, the movie minted $3.9M at the global B.O. in 54 territories. Korea opened on Wednesday and Japan goes on April 10.
