Burst of vibrant blooms as 2026 Philadelphia Flower Show opens to visitors

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — The 2026 Philadelphia Flower Show opened to the public on Saturday, drawing visitors from around the world to its annual celebration of all things floral.

The fragrant air and burst of vibrant blooms serve as a reminder that spring isn’t far off.

“I love flowers. It reminds me that spring is coming soon,” said Maxine Goldman of Northeast Philadelphia.

There are installations imagining lush garden parties and tranquil ideals, themed “Rooted,” anchored in love of nature and one another.

“All of the stories, personal experiences, things that grandparents taught you, things you learned from a friend – these are the things that shape how you garden and interact with plants, and we wanted the Flower Show to talk about that this year,” said Matt Rader, president of the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society.

“‘Rooted,’ I think, is excellent. They’re so different, every one of the displays – so much color. It’s color overload,” said Linda Kates of Huntingdon Valley, Pa.

“It’s beautiful. There are so many things to see,” added Megan Clarke of Mount Airy.

Visitors can also take part in hands-on activities, picking up gardening tips or creating terrariums and flower crowns. This year, the popular marketplace is located downstairs.

“We have so many exotic houseplants. We’ve got bulbs. We’ve got apparel. We’ve got jewelry, gourmet food items and outdoor furniture. I mean, there’s literally something for everyone,” said Meredith Wysowski with PHS Marketplace.

A special preview of the Flower Show, hosted by Karen Rogers, Cecily Tynan, Adam Joseph and Sharrie Williams, airs Saturday at 7 p.m. on 6abc or wherever you stream.
