LeAnn Rimes Explains How Her Relationship with Eddie Cibrian Has ‘Evolved’ Ahead of Their 15th Wedding Anniversary

LeAnn Rimes is opening up about the evolution of her relationship with Eddie Cibrian.

Ahead of the couple’s 15th wedding anniversary in April, the singer-songwriter, 43, spoke with E! News in an interview published on Thursday, Feb. 26, about how her marriage to the actor, 52, has gotten “easier” over the years.

“We’ve evolved so much. We’ve been through so much together,” Rimes told the outlet. “Now our boys, my stepsons are 22 and 18. They’re grown boys. And to help raise his sons — we have a very calm life, which is wonderful. And it didn’t start out that way at all, but now, we’ve really grown into — we just love each other. We love being around each other. We laugh a lot. He’s just a good guy, he really is.”

She continued, “So, 15 years is wild to think about that it’s been that long. But so far, so good.”

The 9-1-1 Nashville star is the stepmother to Cibrian’s two sons, 22-year-old Mason and 18-year-old Jake, whom the Sunset Beach alum shares with his ex, Brandi Glanville.

Rimes and Cibrian met on the set of the Lifetime television movie Northern Lights in 2008 and immediately hit it off. However, they both were married to other people at the time. Rimes and Cibrian denied rumors that they had an affair. In 2009, the costars ended their respective marriages and started dating. In 2010, the couple got engaged. They said “I do” the following year in an intimate ceremony in California.

“He’s also a creator, and it’s nice to have that kind of relationship where he understands what I do, I understand what he does. We just make it work,” the Grammy winner told E! News. “We come first before anything, and we always make sure that’s the case.”

Rimes and Cibrian will celebrate 15 years of marriage on Wednesday, April 22.

Back in 2017, Rimes revealed the secret to her successful marriage with Cibrian.

“It just works,” she told PEOPLE at the time. “We respect each other; respect is a big deal, and once you lose that, you’ve kind of lost everything. He’s a wonderful father and a really good man. He’s kind to me, and I reciprocate.”

Speaking with E! News on the same subject more recently in September 2025, Rimes said, “It’s about just being present with each other, honestly. You think you know someone, but in 15 years, you evolve so much. It’s like learning every day when you wake up.”

The “Life Goes On” singer added that it’s important to stand by “all the incarnations of each other.”
