“That won’t help” – Player warned against transfer to Liverpool after Arsenal contact

Ajax rising star Mika Godts has been advised to avoid a move to Liverpool, and Arsenal could be included in that too.
Journalist Valentijn Driessen provides the warning today, via Voetbal Primeur. He’s been speaking on De Telegraaf’s Kick-off podcast about the 20-year-old.
Godts has established himself as a key player for the Dutch giants this season, and one of the Eredivisie’s most productive attackers to booth.
Indeed, he’s been drawing comparisons to fellow countryman Eden Hazard. The youngster is yet to make his debut for Belgium but has been a consistent presence in their youth setups.
Why interest is growing in Mika Godts
This season to date he has 13 goals and ten assists in 32 games in all competitions so far. He’s on course to double the 15 goal contributions he managed across the entirety of last season.
That’s led to transfer speculation. Sport Witness covered a report at the end of the January transfer window regarding an approach from Arsenal.
His agent followed that by insisting the interest from the Gunners was logical. He certainly seemed to be setting the stage for a ‘mega transfer’ in the summer. The winger certainly won’t be short of suitors if he continues his current form.

Driessen certainly believes his level is above the Eredivisie. But he’s warned against a big move, using Liverpool as an example. But his advice could certainly apply to Arsenal also.
“He’s Ajax’s best player right now,” he said.
“But he squandered a golden opportunity against NEC to give Ajax the victory. He was a bit lucky to take that goal, although that counts too. You can also criticize him for ensuring Ajax only got one point, not three.
“Where is his ceiling? Far above the Eredivisie, but he needs to make progress. You shouldn’t put him at Liverpool now; that won’t help either.
“Cody Gakpo is struggling there, but you don’t need to put him in that position now. He’s not going to play much better than Gakpo.”
