State police respond to bus crash on Interstate 81 in Cortlandville

TOWN OF CORTLANDVILLE, N.Y. (WBNG) — New York State Police investigated crashes involving a bus early Wednesday morning in the town of Cortlandville.

On Feb. 25 at roughly 3:17 a.m., a Greyhound bus traveling to Syracuse from New York City was rear-ended by a 2006 Toyota on Interstate 81 north, according to New York State Police.

As the bus slowed as a result of the collision, a 2018 Audi then rear-ended the bus. The driver of the Audi did not stop after the collision but later reported the crash to state police.

The driver of the Toyota, 27-year-old Cheikh Abedouty of Alexandria, Va., was transported to Guthrie Cortland Medical Center for treatment and was later released.

The Audi driver, 26-year-old Tyreck Hunte of Endicott, did not report any injuries. The bus driver, 43-year-old Kimberly Poole of Philadelphia, and the 43 passengers on board did not report any injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.
