Noah Wyle Opts for a Classic Tuxedo at the Actor Awards

In the late 1990s, Noah Wyle won four SAG Awards (now called Actor Awards) with the cast of ER. The medical drama dominated the awards show, then in its early years, taking home best ensemble in a drama series four years in a row. The Hollywood Reporter reported in 1998 that, upon winning, “Wyle said the SAG award was ‘tailor-made’ for the cast of the Warner Bros. TV drama. ‘It’s the only award given to actors from actors. It’s a testament to the whole, which is really what our show is about.’”

Tonight, Wyle and the cast of The Pitt are up for that same category—and for the first time, Wyle is nominated in an individual acting category for his performance as Dr. Robinavich on the series. Ahead of the ceremony, Wyle walked the red carpet with his wife, Sara Wells.

The Pitt season two is currently airing on HBO and streaming on HBO Max. “It’s really fun” working with Wyle, actress Shabana Azeez, who plays medical student Victoria Javadi, told Town & Country. “He’s a really good person. It’s funny—I shadow all the directors and I came in for pre-production. I shadowed pre-production in office because one day, I want to I want to produce and I want to direct. And everybody’s really supportive about that. But actually [Noah] was the person who was like, ‘You should just tell people if you want to do that stuff.’ And he brought me books on directing, Shot by Shot and In the Blink of an Eye. And then I shadowed him too, which was incredible to watch an actor [do double duty] because he directed a couple episodes in season two.”

She added, “He’s always so receptive to being asked questions. He’s the perfect number one, not just in that he’s a great actor, but he’s good at being a number one. He’s good at setting the tone and making sure everybody’s seen and heard. It’s the perfect work environment in that way.”
