Paul Mescal Brings a Fashion History Lesson to the 2026 Actor Awards

Paul Mescal has officially arrived at the 2026 Actor Awards! The Hamnet star, honored for his individual work as well as for the overall performance of cast, showed up to the red carpet, bringing a fashion history lesson alongside with him.
Longtime collaborator Felicity Kay styled him for the occasion in a black tuxedo, which consisted of a double-breasted jacket and crisp pants. Underneath the jacket, Mescal wore a white top. He eschewed a traditional tie in favor of a stock tie, a type of neckwear typically worn by gentlemen during the 18th and 19th centuries. In the past, the stock tie served a functional safety purpose; men could unfasten the fabric to use as a bandage in case of injury on hunting fields. For good measure, Mescal’s tie included a silver stock pin, which pierced through the neckwear’s knot.

Mescal arrived without Gracie Abrams, just a week after the couple made their red carpet debut at the British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA) Awards. The singer joined her beau at the London ceremony in a Chanel gown by Matthieu Blazy, embellished with intricate beading including a teal trim.
Ahead of this evening’s event, Mescal was nominated for the Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role alongside Miles Caton (Sinners), Benicio del Toro (One Battle After Another), Jacob Elordi (Frankenstein), and Sean Penn (One Battle After Another). His co-star Jessie Buckley was up for Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role alongside Rose Byrne (If I Had Legs I’d Kick You), Kate Hudson (Song Sung Blue), Chase Infiniti (One Battle After Another), and Emma Stone (Bugonia). Together, along with the rest of their cast, Mescal and Buckley were recognized in the Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture. The additional films in the category were Frankenstein, Marty Supreme, One Battle After Another, and Sinners.
