Stocks declined and oil prices jumped as conflict in the Middle East jolted global markets, triggering a retreat from risk assets.
Asian shares fell 1.4%, while US equity-index futures dropped 0.8% after paring earlier losses. Some of the steepest moves eased as the Wall Street JournalBloomberg Terminal reported Iran made a fresh push to resume nuclear talks with the US. President Donald Trump also told the New York Times that he was open to dropping sanctions on Iran if its new leader was “pragmaticBloomberg Terminal.”
