Surrey car meet concerns prompt police dispersal order

A dispersal order is being introduced across parts of Surrey over police concerns about a planned car meet.

The order will run from 16:00 GMT until 04:00, covering Cobham Services, the Brooklands Industrial Estate in Weybridge and Waterside Drive in Walton-on-Thames.

Surrey Police said the measure was designed to reduce the risk of anti-social driving and minimise disruption to residents and road users.

Insp Chris Thoday, borough commander for Elmbridge, said previous car meets had caused “significant disruption” on the M25 around Cobham Services.
