Hilary Duff Shares Postpartum Influenced Relatable Track “Holiday Party”

All hail Hilary Duff! Hilary is back with her sixth studio album “Luck… or Something” and joined Ryan Seacrest on-air for a much needed catch up on all the things.

The “Lizzie McGuire” alum released her first full-length record in over a decade and the deeply personal pop project produced largely with her husband, Matthew Koma, is our latest obsession. The 11-track set explores themes of adulthood, relationships, insecurity and growth with heartfelt lyrics that reflect where she is in life now.

One standout track, “Holiday Party,” we had to discuss. The track blends upbeat energy with candid lyrics about relational anxieties, with Duff admitting she has nightmares about her husband cheating on her.

“There’s so much behind ‘Holiday Party’ and I love this song so much,” Hilary shared with Seacrest, responding to the fan freak out online out that her husband may have actually cheated. “I’m like, ‘Guys!’ I had just had a baby and was super hormonal … having crazy dreams.”

Hilary explained she “kept having this dream that he was cheating on me with this person named Tiffany” and because she has a friend named Tiffany, it felt extra real at the time.

The song represents more than just a potential affair though, Hilary added.

“[I was] feeling out of body postpartum and being like my relationship feels different … does he want more? Am I enough? Am I boring? … It’s a super relatable song and feeling. … I deal with a lot of like abandonment issues and so those fears are really real and there’s a lot of topics on the album that cover that stuff, but they’re kind of like dressed in a sequin bra and fluffy jacket.”

Watch back the full interview for more from our girl, including how her four kids have reacted to her viral comeback, what other real-life anxieties and fears are woven into the album and how she’s prepping for that mega tour!
