Tennessee softball ace Karlyn Pickens receives injury diagnosis

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – Karlyn Pickens appears to have avoided serious injury after exiting Tuesday’s game against Belmont.
Pickens left the game in the second inning, favoring her throwing shoulder. Following the game, head coach Karen Weekly did not have an immediate update on the Tennessee ace.

On Wednesday morning, Pickens injury was revealed to be an arm strain.
Tennessee released the following statement on Pickens injury: “Karlyn suffered an arm strain during the Belmont game. She was evaluated Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. She is currently listed as day-to-day.”
Pickens has tossed 46.2 innings this season, allowing just four earned runs and striking out batters.
Tennessee opens SEC play on Friday against LSU.
