Chick-fil-A Is Testing Brand-New Sides, and Fans Are Already Talking

Chick-fil-A tends to move carefully when it comes to menu changes. The core lineup has remained remarkably steady over the years, especially when it comes to sides. Waffle fries are standard, and beyond a small handful of newer additions like mac and cheese, the supporting cast just hasn’t changed much. That’s why reports of multiple new sides hitting test menus at the same time are turning heads.
According to a recent post from the food-focused Instagram account @snackwire, Chick-fil-A is currently offering an expanded lineup of sides at select concept locations. The test is limited in scope for now—but it’s enough to get fans talking.
What are the sides Chick-fil-A is testing?
The most headline-making addition is sweet potato waffle fries.
The chain is also offering classic french fries—a notable departure for a brand closely associated with its signature waffle-cut version.
But fries aren’t the only items on the list. Per @snackwire, the current test sides include:
- Sweet potato waffle fries
- Classic french fries
- Fried okra
- Sweet potato souffle
- Crispy Brussels sprouts
- Sweet potato tots
- Onion rings
- Cornbread
It’s a much broader expansion than Chick-fil-A typically experiments with at one time. That said, test menus are exactly that: tests. Items are offered in limited markets to gauge customer response before any potential wider rollout.
Where can you try the new sides?
According to the post, the sides are currently available at Chick-fil-A’s Little Blue Kitchen in College Park, Maryland (the brand’s test kitchen concept) as well as Dwarf House and Truett’s Chick-fil-A locations across Georgia.
Availability may vary by restaurant, so not every location will have every item on the list.
For customers near those markets, this is essentially a limited-time opportunity to weigh in with their wallets. For everyone else, it’s a waiting game to see which of these sides will make it to the national menu.
