Capitals, Golden Knights discussing trade that would send Dowd to Vegas

The Washington Capitals and Vegas Golden Knights are in ongoing discussions that would send forward Nic Dowd to Vegas, according to TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger.

The deal is not yet done, but is expected to be completed this morning, Dreger adds.

Dowd has four goals and 16 points in 55 games this season.

The 35-year-old centre is signed through next season at a cap hit of $3 million.

A veteran of 11 NHL seasons, Dowd has 88 goals and 104 assists for 192 points in 637 career regular season games. He had spent time with the Los Angeles Kings and Vancouver Canucks prior to his time in D.C.

Vegas made their first move ahead of the deadline earlier this week, adding winger Cole Smith from the Nasvhville Predators for defenceman Christian Sedoff and a 2028 third-round pick.
