‘The Boys’ Trailer: Homelander Seeks Immortality In Final Season

It’s a fight to the death for Supes as The Boys prepares to conclude its five-season run with a battle royale of super proportions.
On Thursday, Prime Video debuted the trailer for the fifth and final season of the Eric Kripke-created dark superhero series, which premieres on April 8 with two episodes on the streamer, culminating in the May 20 series finale.
In the trailer, Homelander (Antony Starr) teases he has “a bigger destiny” as The Boys try to beat him in tracking down V1, the original iteration of Compound V, which could make him immortal.
Meanwhile, Homelander thaws out his dad, Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles), to help him prepare the country for his “ascension.”
In the fifth and final season, it’s Homelander’s world, completely subject to his erratic, egomaniacal whims. Hughie (Jack Quaid), Mother’s Milk (Laz (Alonso) and Frenchie (Tomer Capone) are imprisoned in a ‘Freedom Camp’. Annie (Erin Moriarty) struggles to mount a resistance against the overwhelming Supe force. Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) is nowhere to be found. But when Butcher (Karl Urban) reappears, ready and willing to use a virus that will wipe all Supes off the map, he sets in motion a chain of events that will forever change the world and everyone in it.
Prime’s college spin-off Gen V recently concluded its second season, which sets up The Boys finale, and the animated The Boys Presents: Diabolical is not likely to get a second season. Meanwhile, Paul Grellong serves as showrunner on the upcoming prequel series Vought Rising, and Diego Luna and Gael García Bernal are executive producing The Boys: Mexico, from Blue Beetle writer Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer.
