Country music singer Travis Tritt is coming to Erie to put on an outdoor concert this summer at the Rebich Investments Amphitheater.

Erie Events, which runs the Rebich Investments Amphitheater at 828 W. Bayfront Parkway, announced on March 3 that Tritt will be playing in Erie at the amphitheater at Liberty Park on Aug. 23.

The Georgia native has more than 35 years of experience playing country music as one of the genre’s most decorated artists, and he continues to sell out shows around the world.

A career in country music

Country fans might recognize Tritt for some of his hit songs including “Help Me Hold On,” “I’m Gonna Be Somebody” and “Drift Off to Dream.”

Over the course of his career, Tritt has won Billboard’s Top New Male Artist award, CMA Horizon Award, two Grammys and three more CMA Awards to go with multiple platinum records. He has amassed more than 30 million in career album sales.

Tritt, who last played a show in Erie at Warner Theatre in 2017, has also performed at the 1996 Olympics, two Super Bowls, a World Series game, the opening of the Georgia Dome, the final Braves game at the Atlanta-Fulton Country Stadium and an NCAA men’s basketball championship.

Erie Events to see larger scale outdoor concerts

As Erie Events enters its second year managing the amphitheater, executive director Gus Pine is making a push for larger outdoor shows in the summer.

“This will be the fourth concert we have booked in the summer,” Pine said. “In addition to Travis Tritt we have two more shows that we will be announcing soon. We might do as many as six concerts out there this summer in addition to Eight Great Tuesdays.”

With managing the amphitheater, Pine says Erie Events can now provide a venue for more large scale artists like Tritt.

“These artists love to play outdoors in the summer, and we now have a venue where we can accommodate that,” Pine said. “We can sell twice as many tickets at the amphitheater as we can the Warner. For the months of June, July and August, people want to watch concerts outside.”
