A reported threat prompted a lockdown Friday, March 6, at Windsor High School as law enforcement officers investigated, authorities said.
The threat was reported to police at about 11:50 a.m., according to Emily Fuller, a spokesperson for the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office.
Fuller said the campus was placed on lockdown while deputies investigated. Police urged parents and community members to stay away from the area for the time being.
According to Heather Bailey, a spokesperson for the Windsor Unified School District, administrators were on site as well as law enforcement. While the school was locked down, everyone was safe, she said.
Bailey said additional information would be made available later.
Road closures were established around the campus, including at the intersection of Windsor Road and Winemaker Way, where the southbound lane was shut down.
The California Highway Patrol was assisting with traffic control in the area.
Fuller said details about the threat were still limited as the investigation was ongoing.
Authorities asked the public to avoid the area while the investigation continues.
