A student was allegedly assaulted by a 32-year-old man as he was leaving the Eliot School in the North End on Wednesday afternoon, according to a Boston Police report.
BPD responded to a reported assault and battery at 226 Causeway St. — between the Eliot 5-8 Upper School and North Station — at about 3:20 p.m. on Wednesday.
The student from the school for 5th to 8th grade was walking around the school parking lot when he was allegedly shoved to the ground, grabbed by the neck and punched in the face, according to police.
A student-teacher intervened and was also allegedly shoved to the ground. The student victim was taken to the hospital by his parent for evaluation.
The suspect was identified as Seitu Morel, 32, of Cambridge, in a BPD community alert posted Thursday night. The alert states Morel had assaulted several students and was wanted on multiple arrest warrants, including a separate assault and battery and unarmed robbery that occurred on Feb. 25, at 1912 Beacon St., in Brighton.
At the scene Wednesday afternoon, officers were told that the assault occurred on the school grounds and flagged down by several school administrators, who pointed the police in the direction of the suspect toward TD Garden.
Morel was located in front of the Tip O’Neil Building down the street and identified, police said.
At the scene, a charter bus driver said the suspect had also entered his bus, which held the belongings of a group headed to the Celtics game, and grabbed one of the bags, the report said.
Police identified the bag on the stairs behind the suspect and returned it to the owner, BPD reported.
The student victim’s father told police his son recounted that he and two friends were walking around the school parking lot when Morel allegedly moved toward them and yelled for his son to move out of the way, the report said.
The suspect then allegedly continued to move toward his son, threw him on the ground, grabbed him by his neck and punched him in the face, according to the incident report.
Officers returned to the school and were told the student victim had been taken to Boston Children’s Hospital, the report said.
The cops spoke to the student-teacher on the phone, who said he was walking toward the MBTA station after dismissal and saw the student being shoved to the ground, police said.
The student-teacher said he began walking toward the assault and was also allegedly pushed to the ground by Morel, causing him to fall into the street, the report said.
Several more witnesses reportedly verified the account of the alleged assault, police said.
Boston Police urged anyone with information regarding Morel’s whereabouts to contact District A-1 Detectives at 617-343-4571 or anonymously via the CrimeStoppers Tip Line.
Police warned anyone who sees or recognizes Morel to not attempt to approach or contact the individual, and instead call 911 immediately.
