Ex-Michigan coach Sherrone Moore strikes plea deal, sentencing set

Announced at his court appearance on Friday morning, Sherrone Moore and his legal team have reached a plea deal with prosecutors in the case of him breaking into the home of the woman he had an inappropriate relationship with while he was the head coach of the Michigan Wolverines.

Appearing for an evidentiary hearing at 14A-1 District Court in Ann Arbor, Moore pleaded no contest to a pair of misdemeanor charges that were added on Friday by prosecutor Katie Rezmeierski: malicious use of a telecommunications device in context of a domestic relationship, and trespassing.

In exchange for pleading no contest to those two charges, the three previous charges against Moore — home invasion, stalking, and breaking and entering — were dismissed.

Moore was fired by Athletics Director Warde Manuel back in December for having an inappropriate relationship with a subordinate. Not long after that, he was arrested for allegedly breaking into her home. He was originally charged with third-degree home invasion, stalking, and breaking and entering, and has been going through court proceedings ever since.

His sentencing hearing for the two charges that he pleaded no contest for is scheduled for Tuesday, April 14 at 2 p.m. Per ESPN’s Dan Wetzel, the malicious use of a telecommunications device charge could carry up to one year in prison, while the trespassing charge is up to one month. However, Moore is not expected to serve any prison time due to this matter.
